The United Kingdom is ready to advance with using the entire amount of frozen Russian assets to aid the Ukrainian war effort, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a collective announcement, the heads of state of the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this joint measure would increase strain on Russian President Vladimir Putin and compel Moscow to come to the table.

They further noted that the move would be executed in close cooperation with the US.

United Kingdom restrictions have frozen more than £25bn of Russia's assets since the Russian government launched its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. But, previously, funds sent to the Ukrainian government using Russia's assets had solely been drawn from gains and dividends generated on them.

Sir Keir told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their aim to push forward toward utilizing the complete amount of the seized Russia's state assets to halt hostilities.

He added that more measures over the next period would increase the strain on Moscow.

This declaration comes after EU representatives gathered in Copenhagen last week to debate employing immobilized Russia's holdings for a €140 billion loan to the Ukrainian nation.

Recently, US President Donald Trump urged Group of Seven partners to take or otherwise use immobilized Russian assets, based on reports.

The total of immobilized Russia's holdings in the European Union is estimated to be almost €211bn.

President Zelensky urges Britain's Sir Keir Starmer to join the weapons procurement program

Russia launched large-scale aerial attacks across the Ukrainian territory on Friday, leading to electricity outages in significant regions of Ukraine's capital, the city, and several other zones.

Two people were fatally injured and a minimum of 20 people were hurt in the strike, authorities in Ukraine stated.

In a post on an online platform following the attack, Zelensky commented that the strategic strike aimed at public and utility structures.

"The necessity is not just talk but concrete steps - from the United States, Europe, and the G7 - in providing anti-aircraft weapons and implementing sanctions," he emphasized.

"Every sanction decision diminishes the Russian war effort," Zelensky declared, in a separate post.

Also on Friday, Zelensky stated to media outlets he would urge Sir Keir to enter the PURL scheme, under which Nato countries acquire military equipment from the America to provide to Ukraine.

While praising the UK's strong support for Kyiv, he said it should demonstrate clearly that it would take part in the system, as well as impose further measures on Russia.
