Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the US has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have shot down missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said debris fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
