Squad Evaluations: The Three Lions Victory Secured by Harry Kane's Brace in World Cup Qualifier

In a commanding performance, England secured a further triumph against their opponents, featuring a number of squad members producing standout performances throughout the game.

First-choice Eleven

Dean Henderson Not a save to make during the opening 45 before tested by Arbër Hoxha’s bent shot. A sliding tackle against an Albanian attacker highlighted sharp reading of the game. Six out of ten

Jarell Quansah Examined against Albania’s primary attacker through their forward. Played through the middle early on but moved wider once Saka entered the fray. 7

The defender Advanced into midfield when in possession, as he has done before. Sometimes lacked urgency on the ball with the approach abandoned at half-time. 6/10

Dan Burn Always dangerous from dead balls, per usual, but may be an alternative to Stones at the back rather than his partner. A careless ball in the second half came close to an opener from the visitors. 6/10

Nico O’Reilly Another confident display by the 20-year-old following his first cap versus Serbia. A teammate failed to make the most of an exquisite touch behind the opposing backline. His position is his to lose already. 7

The newcomer His maiden beginning with the national team. A bit careless when playing out but his inswinging set-pieces caused problems. A handy game manager available to the coach to have against defensive opponents. Booked after a reckless challenge. 6/10

The midfielder Crosses from dead balls and set-plays were dangerous. Had room to roam on the left yet found himself in an offside position as the pass came in front of goal. Granted a well-earned substitution around the 60-minute point. 6

The star midfielder Played in an advanced spot down the right and also put in the hard yards. Displayed glimpses of brilliance and mishit an effort over. Substituted in the closing stages by a teammate, his rival, after receiving a caution. Seven

Jarrod Bowen Was presented with the team's best chance before halftime, his shot well saved by the Albanian keeper. With Quansah staying deep, he had to offer an outlet down the right side yet his deliveries from the touchline varied in quality. Substituted late in the match. 6/10

Harry Kane The difference-maker netting two more strikes at international level. The first a typical opportunist's goal and the second a classy header having drifted away off his defender. At 32, he’s only getting better and England are strong contenders in the upcoming tournament with him up top. 8

The attacker Struggled to make an impact on the left flank. Had a presentable chance when set up by the midfielder but Strakosha denied him. Rashford made much more of effect after coming on. 5/10

Bench Players

  • Phil Foden (for a teammate 63) Appeared sharp and linked up well with the striker in more familiar role, Six
  • Bukayo Saka (for the winger at the 63-minute mark) Spurned chances but his corner created the first goal, 6/10
  • Marcus Rashford (replacing the attacker with 15 left) Energetic when brought on assisting the captain's brace via an excellent ball to the back post, Seven
  • Anderson (on for the midfielder in the 75th minute) Appears comfortable at this level, Six
  • Morgan Rogers (replacing Bellingham with minutes remaining) Insufficient minutes to make an impact, 6/10
