It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a team that has won it all.

It needed up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if not provided the opportunity.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to produce her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Many contend the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed I lacked timing at all," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your competitive instincts take over and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the batsman was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

By the time she was removed Australia needed 66 more at one run per ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the confidence to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if we do, we are confident we can achieve it."

That comment will be the last rival teams at this World Cup need to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this success coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

However although she afterwards confessed those physical issues have pushed back plans to retire, this tournament is expected to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as leader.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
